One day, while exploring his new home, the hero encountered a monstrous butterfly. However, after defeating this giant enemy, a young girl found herself on the ground in its place. Why did the monster transform into a human? After these mysterious beginnings, the hero's search for truth will lead him on a grand adventure that will shake the very foundations of his world and bring him closer to the secret buried in his own lost memories.

Rune Factory 4 Special marks the return of the beloved Story of Seasons spin-off series, which combines farming and dungeon crawling, as the series makes its Nintendo Switch debut with HD graphics, a new "Newlywed Mode," and additional cutscenes. In this standalone story, players choose to play as a hero or heroine who will meet numerous potential suitors and other engaging locals. As a new prince or princess, you can fulfill your royal duties by issuing decrees that will help the town prosper, or take a more rural approach by growing your own fruits and vegetables and helping the townspeople. If a dungeon crawl is on the day's agenda, you can craft or purchase a wide range of swords, spears, and staves, as well as magic, to take on dangerous foes. You can even recruit friendly companions or monsters to aid you on your travels.
