Another emblematic point of R-Type Delta is its dark and gloomy atmosphere. Generally, shoot 'em ups are not known for their storytelling, but R-Type Delta HD Boosted excels in this area thanks to its minimalist environmental narration, typical of the late 90s. Where the narration is captivating and thrilling, it also proves disturbing and anxiety-inducing. And all without words.

MEANING OF DELTA
The term "Delta" has several meanings. To begin with, the Greek letter delta resembles a triangle, a geometric shape with as many sides as there are ships in the game. Coincidence? It is also the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, and R-Type Delta is the fourth installment in the R-Type series. Finally, the delta triangle is the most basic polygon, which makes sense when you know that R-Type Delta was the first installment in the series to use 3D polygon graphics instead of 2D sprites.

SCENARIO
2163. The R9 Arrowhead fighter returns to Earth in very bad condition after its mission to destroy the Bydo empire. The ship is rescued by the Croque-Monsieur battleship cruiser before being transported to an orbital space station. One year later, while astronomers in Central Asia observe mysterious objects falling from the sky, all contact with the orbital annihilation platform Moritz-G is lost. A cutting-edge machine, capable of destroying the entire planet, crashes into a city, completely leveling it. Even though its destructive weapons have not yet been activated, its advanced defense systems make Moritz-G impossible to approach. A last-ditch military operation is launched, and the prototype R9aII Delta ship is deployed to resolve the situation. Thus begins the epic battle that is R-Type Delta!
