Description
SONIC celebrates its 35th with 2 collector SEGA GENESIS cartridges!
The story of Sonic the Hedgehog is the story of the 1990s. The result of a brilliant alliance between cutting-edge console technology and the ultra-radical attitude of the time, Sonic's iconic design and assertive personality quickly established him as a true pop culture icon, a standard-bearer for everything hip, cool, and, of course, fast.
In his first adventure, the eponymous game Sonic the Hedgehog was a platform game featuring an unprecedented type of mascot. Sonic speeds through complex, multi-layered levels, racing through checkpoints to boss battles, secret levels and much more, all against the backdrop of a wonderful symphony of groovy, synth-infused ambient music.
Today, 35 years later, iam8bit and SEGA are teaming up to celebrate Sonic's massive impact on the world of video games with a unique commemoration. Introducing the “Sonic the Hedgehog 35th Anniversary Legacy Cartridge,” a fully playable and meticulously crafted edition of the legend that started it all.
It comes in a stunning translucent "Blue Blur" cartridge, packaged in a decorative foil-stamped gatefold box. Plus, you'll find a premium full-color instruction booklet, exactly the kind you'd open and devour on the way home after buying it in the store.
Bonus: Only 1 in 8 cartridges, completely at random, has been imbued with the authentic energy of the Chaos Emeralds!
Yes, you read that right: this tribute to Sonic's past goes head-to-head with the future, and in the wake of all this dazzling energy, fragments of the Emeralds themselves have been harvested. These special cartridges will feature a unique translucent exterior, housing an inner glow inspired by the Chaos Emeralds.
